    Keyboard Randomly Stops Working
    « on: October 28, 2009, 05:31:00 AM »
    Greetings all!

I hope someone can help me with this because I'm at my wit's end over it!

For the past several days, my keyboard will randomly stop working.  There's no specific symptom or indicator of when it will stop, it just stops.  One of the really odd things about this is the Num Lock indicator light stays on even when none of the keys will work.  Rebooting the system will always bring the keyboard back, but there's no way to know for how long.

My system stats are below and I've tried a few different keyboards with the same result.  All the keyboards were PS2 connected.

Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated!  Please help!

Does the same thing happen is safe mode? If so, try a usb connection - could be a problem with the port. If not, there may be a sw conflict. Let us know what happens in safe mode.

      Thanks for the tip Allan!

The thing is, it can go for hours without any problems.  For example, I've been running for almost three hours now and it's been fine.  Is it advisable to run in Safe Mode for that length of time?

      There's no reason not to.
