The aplication x has generated errors...etc
« on: June 21, 2005, 02:41:03 PM »
Hi,

Every now and then, I get the following error:

"FireFox has generated errors and window will close it"
I also get this error with explorer.exe.

I am not really too worried because so far, re-starting the program or re-booting the PC solves the problem without ulterior consequences, but that does not stop this from being an annoyance.

Any Ideas ?

Sorry,

I forgot to write that I sincerely doubt it is a virus/trojan/malware related issue.
I have the following running resident inside from a long time:

ZAP and Router FW
Bit Defender
CounterSpy and
WinPatrol
SpyWareBlaster

On demand scan every other day:

A2
SpyBot S & D
Ad-Aware SE
HiJackThis
CWebShredder

I almost always come clean :-) and practice safe hex.

Any other ideas?

I think this is W2K OS related.

Enrique:

Check the Windows 2000 Event Viewer for any indication as to what is causing the errors (right-click My Computer and select Manage from the context menu, then double click Event Viewer and double click Applications and System.  To view the error info, double click on any Error events listed in the right pane.)

If you need help figuring any of these out, let us know what the Source and Event ID is for each error.

Regards,
Doc

Thanks  everyone :-)

pcdoc4christ,

Yes, I only found , under "aplications",  some errors that do not seem related to FF or Explorer.exe.

They say their "origin" is Perflib

Checking deeper with propperties, I discovered that " perfdisk.dll and Perfproc.dll"   started to have problems, with time delays and lack of info about the HDrives, that seems to have appeared  just after installing DisKeeper Home Edition, never before.

Could this possibly be ?
