graphic card recommendations for windows 7
    « on: November 15, 2009, 09:12:08 AM »
Hello, I have a friend who has asked for help in upgrading his graphics for a budgeted price of 50.00 or less

Right now his windows 7 score is 1

he tried running dxdiag.exe but said it wasn't found so he only gave me the info on his pc from the properties section

OS windows 7 ultimate 32 bit
    intel celeron cpu 2.53g

    ram 2gb

He couldn't find his motherboard model but he was able to determine his slot is pci-e

About him: He's not a gamer. He browses the internet and checks email. He's looking to enhance his visual experience with windows 7

    so far I've considered:
    XFX GeForce 9400Gt 512ddr2
    Asus Radeon HD 4350 512mb ddr2

Any thoughts or video card recommendations?

Heck, I'd save some money and get this: ASUS EN8400GS SILENT/HTP/512M/V2 GeForce 8400 GS 512MB.  After the $10 rebate and with the free shipping offer in effect now, the cost is only $20.99.  It would be more than adequate for him.

Either of the cards you mentioned would, of course, also be more than adequate for him but at a higher cost.

Edit: Ah, here's a good deal on an Asus Radeon HD 4350: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121310.  $25 if you get it now and get the rebate.
