    Sthombo,
I see you are a newbie at Computer Hope.
Writing a batch script to backup your files is a good idea. However, if you are new to this it could be a challenge. No offense intended, I think there's an easier way to do this. Windows XP already has a number of things built into it to allow you to make backups in different ways.
Please let me suggest that you read over this article off of another site, and then come back here with more questions or ideas.

To add a Map Drive, or any available button, to the Windows Explorer toolbar in Windows XP:
    1. Open My Computer.
    2. Right-click the toolbar and if necessary, uncheck Lock the Toolbars.
    3. Right-click the toolbar and press Customize.
    4. Select the icon that you wish to add from the Available toolbar buttons list.

Oh I see. The button reads "map (verb) drive". What results is a mapped drive.

In Silicon Valley Redneck, it is just a "Map Drive."
