How can I get rid of visible page breaks?
    « on: November 19, 2009, 05:00:25 AM »
I have XP Pro 3Sp and use Word 2007.
I am writing a book and cannot get rid of the visible page breaks at the bottom of most pages. I have tried numerous possibilities (MS, Google), but they persist. I hoped that they won't show when I reformat to PDF, but fat chance ...
Is there a brilliant mind out there who can help?

Are you saying that the page break is actually showing up on the PDF?

If so are you sure that it is a page break that you are seeing?

And, what about Print Preview?  Do they appear there?

Well, I know on which page they are in Words. In PDF they appear on the same pages as fine grey line. Therefore I assume they are page breaks.
I believe, rightly or wrongly, that they come about when I write in Words and hit ENTER to move to the following page, rather than let the page break decide when to move. But sometimes, in order to not have just a few words on the follwing page (orphans and widows), I need to do so. How can I repair it?

Yes they do, I am sorry to say. I have just explained my thoughts to mroilfield in my previous message. Do they make sense to you?

Have you tried to click on Page Layout and then Breaks? Then click on page....Mark the point at which the page ends?

If that doesn't work look at the Next page button. Insert a section break and start a new page.

Thanks Spoiler, just tried yor suggestion. But it sets breakpoints rather than making them disappear. My problem is not with the breakpoints per se, but with them being visible. This cannot be right, can it?
