    Help with changing a path
    « on: November 30, 2009, 04:59:53 PM »
Hey, I got this patch for a game that I just can't install, because the patch is set to a default directory and I installed the game on another partition (The game should be installed in program files, C). Anyways, can I change the directory that the patch is set to find the game in ? I'm using windows vista if it helps

It is had to understand what you what.
A patch? Why would you use a patch with a game?
    Do you mean path?
When you install the game, it should setup everything automatically.

you could run the patch normally, and then copy the patch files over the files you have in the game folder.

Wouldn't work if patch requires to be installed over the game and supports only standart path for the installation - it won't extract the files. That is actually strange because most normal game patches check the registry entries for the game you installed to know where exactly it is and install all the files where they are needed. If this happens it is either a crack(which i don't reccomend using) or the game installation didn't go right and the registry entires are for some reason lost.

Copy the game folder to the default directory, install the patch, and copy it all back.
