internet problem

i just formatted my computer with new windows xp with sp2. but when i start to connect internet by dial up modem, either the connection gets disconnected after some time or the web page i am viewing are not displayed or i can browse only 2-3 pages in a website. please help

    Try shutting down your computer, unplug your modem for 10 seconds, plug it back in and then boot up your PC again and see if your browser loads quicker.

    i removed the modem and again put it back but the problem remained. when the internet connetcs 1st 2-3 pages comes very fast but after some time page dosn't display. and then internet gets disconnected.
