    How to change power supply?
    « on: December 03, 2009, 08:43:01 PM »
     :P
I have a  computer, Presario CQ5210F, and my graphics card needs a  300watt power supply. The comp currently has 250Watt.

-Can I change it? How do I find out if the motherboard can handle it? No manuals were included.

-If I can change it, how high should I go? And how do I change it without potentially damaging my computer?

Thank you for any and all help.

Sorry that link does'nt help much because,

I want to know how to figure out if I can change my psu safely, and which psu should I buy/compatible with my computer or motherboard?

I am not a comp nerd, and do not want to test(?) my power supply? Or buy power testers(?) Confusing.

Note that "nerd" is considered an insult by many people.

If you are not confident about choosing a power supply and dismantling and reassembling your computer, you would be best to take it to a computer repair shop and ask them to do the job.

If a power supply is (properly!) replaced with another of higher wattage, this will not damage your motherboard.

I'm sorry if the term 'nerd' insults anybody, I've always thought it be cool.

To me, "nerd" implies a person with no social skills or dress sense who is practically an Aspie about computers and stuff to do with them. Or witches or manga. Same with "geek".
