windowsxp auto update

i am unable to set the windows auto update..it is greyed out and i can not click on it.Any help

    Start>Settings>Control Panel>Admin Services>Services
    Make sure your Automatic Update is running.

    This might be becuase Microsoft has changed their update system... Go to the microsoft website, and click on Windows Update. You will need to install new software for Windows Update... Once this is installed, things should be back to normal...
