775 what do you do?

Tell me 775, what  d o you do? I mean do for ME?
All the new stuff has a 775 lintel non-socket. Unless it is AMD.
So, my chance of every upgrading my 478 P4...
 are down the  drain. 

Please don't send me to 775 school...
I don't care it has more pins and are not really pins.

I want to know what do it do for me?
If I get it, how long can I keep it?
Will I be happy on a low end dual core? Do I need the i7?   
Do all 775 CPUs do 64 bit?
Is the 775 a 64bit data path? Never mind. I don't wanna know.

I am thinking of burying a cheap 775 motherboard...
 maybe used.
Aand replace my old  ASUSTeK board, a P4V8X-MX.
Of course it works. But it is slow.

My spare CPU box has only three 478 CPUs. Two P4s and a celery.
So, if I buy a new mobo, I can't user th em! -Right?
