win 7.... quick launch from vista and xp question

i just installed win7 and i like it, however i lost the use of the quick launch buttons that were a key componet to xp and vista. what i would like to know is that since i have done a clean install is the quick launch gone or can i still make use of this???

Ps i know that the icons are still like the quick launch but i mean just like a rectangular box with pgrm short cuts that don't expand when u click them
