Ide & Sata hard drives together
« on: December 22, 2009, 06:47:58 AM »
I want to install an ide hd in a computer that already has a sata hd. The ide (with the working os) will be the master, and the sata (can't log into windows) the slave. I want to retrieve some files, then clean out sata drive to use as storage. Do I simply plug ide into cable that feeds dvd drive? (power cable too, of course)

Yes.

MB===============================Slave=======Master.

However you will need to change the boot drive priority in the BIOS as SATA if present is the default.
If the IDE had an OS installed to it while in a different machine don't be suprised if it doesn't boot at all...
