Wrong.

Latin developed into Italian and it's variants.

English is a Germanic Language; Latin is an Italic Language.

Sure, English get's some words from Latin, but it has words from all sorts of different languages; heck, the word "royal" is Norman in origin; the "proper" english word is "kingly", and regal is taken from french, much like various phrases, such as, to properly describe this post, Coup de grāce.

Yes, if you refer back to my explanation of where it came from, the angles and the saxons took over England.  They were from Germany.  And thats why England is called that.  Angle land > Angland > England.

I can't look at diagrams as my sinus headaches are pretty brutal tonite,

Latin is to the right; it branches of from some other node that branches off of Italic.

Germanic branches downward, leading to (in one of many branches) english.
