The Latin language. I'll take derivatives for $500, Alex.
Wrong.
Latin developed into Italian and it's variants.
English is a Germanic Language; Latin is an Italic Language.
Sure, English get's some words from Latin, but it has words from all sorts of different languages; heck, the word "royal" is Norman in origin; the "proper" english word is "kingly", and regal is taken from french, much like various phrases, such as, to properly describe this post, Coup de grāce.
