    New Wireless NIC; Issues.
    « on: January 03, 2010, 08:49:43 PM »
I installed a new Wireless NIC in one of my computers. It is a D-Link Rangemax Super G 108mbps. I have a Wireless Super G router 108mbps router.

The Wireless NIC picks up my home network signal strength at about 20%, 8-12 mbps.

Another computer that sits on the same desk (and therefore is the same distance from the router) receives the same signal at about 80%, 54 mbps continuously, and that is an older system with a 54 mbps G card.

After installing the Wireless NIC, I reinstalled Windows XP Pro 32 bit. All the drivers for everything (including the Wireless NIC) have been installed.

Moving the antenna/pointing it into a different direction has no affect on signal strength.

Does anyone have any idea why this is, and how I can fix it?

    Thanks,
