« on: September 28, 2006, 06:42:25 AM »
Hey, i have a problem ive been trying to fix for months. I installed a new cooling fan for my video card and when i started up my computer it kept flashing network cable unplugged and id have no access to the internet. ive tried everything. power cycling, new cables reinstalling drivers, reinstalling windows xp. my network card is on my motherboard. everything works fine on my other computer. i finnaly got my internet to work by setting my duplex speed to half duplex 10mbs, but now my internet is soooo slow. so i wanna know if anyone can help me get my duplex back up to full duplex 100mbs and regain my speed

thanks in advance :)

That's not it, you won't notice a difference between 1000Mbs, 100Mbs or 10Mbs when you make use of the Internet.... Only applies to LAN traffic.

I think you need to replace your NIC.

    it's just possible ? maybe????

that you have a damaged ethernet cable

At 10Mb the packet error correction can maintain the connection by re-requesting data packets but at 100Mb maybe it just can't keep up ?

Or you damaged the crad when installing your new fan?
Either way a cable is about us$5 and a NIC about the same I would guess, both a cheap fix.
before you do that though as unlovedwarrior suggested uninstall & reinstall your drivers incase they are corrupt.

I think it is because your network card crapped out.

    Which I allready said.

may be the cable configuration not right

check the cable data or you can cut the connector and create again
