    chkdsk /r and defrag?
    « on: January 07, 2010, 11:46:14 AM »
I'm optimizing a system running XP.  I plan to do a chkdsk /r.  Does that take care of what defrag does?  Should I also run a defrag first?

Defrag afterwards...no they don't do the same thing...
    Re-boot in between.

Yeah, I've been told that before.  However, in this case, I'm doing it remotely and the person on the other end knows nothing.

        Thanks.
