BLUE SCREEN, CANT USE SAFE MODE,
    « on: January 16, 2010, 06:21:12 PM »
    BLUE SCREEN  SAYS:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or unistall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

    Technical information:

    ***   STOP:   0x00000024 (0x001902FE,0xF89EED4, 0xF89EE0D0, 0x83269805)

    --------

I've tried almost every option and it always leads me back to this blue screen.
HELP PLEASE, THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO REPLY

For this STOP Code, you would boot to the Windows XP recovery console and run the chkdsk utility against your boot and/or system volumes.  Normally, you would use the command "chkdsk /p /r".  The utility was not designed to be interrupted so don't interrupt it - or you could further corrupt your file system.

See Recovery Console Commands and Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console for advanced users.

If you didn't install the "Recovery Console" to your hard drive previously, you would boot it from the Windows XP Install CD (Not a restore/recovery CD).  If you don't have a Windows XP Install CD you would either borrow one or write (not copy) the following Recovery Console iso image to a bootable CD-R.

Another option is to remove your hard drive and "slave" it to a working Windows XP system to run the "chkdsk" utility against the volumes on your drive.  While slaved to an operational system you might want to backup/save any data you can't afford to lose.

        F8<Directory services restore mode

        Your anti-virus program didn't work?

Virus?  For help with that, you should post to the "Computer Hope Forums -> Software -> Computer viruses and spyware" subforum".  See here.

I suppose not.. I finally got rid of the pop ups from IS2010 manually, if you're familiar with it.. then you'd know lots of warnings, fake virus scans pop up (also disables ur task manager) and you can't boot in safe mode.   :-\

It took a long time for me since I don't know anything about computers.. but.. my problem is now that the blue screen still comes up when starting.. so I'm stuck hitting F8..etc

i downloaded/ updated my anti viruses.. and I'm running them now..

            Any advice?  ???

              1.  I'd start with the "chkdsk" utility to verify the integrity of your file system.

I updated my anti-viruses, ran scans etc.

I still got the blue screen.

I ran CHKDSK, it didn't seem to change anything. (Twice)

I finally did a recovery from 2 days before I got the virus.
I thought maybe it would run fine.
I STILL GET THIS BLUE SCREEN.  :-[

No one has been able to help me. They just send me links to things I've already tried and things that won't work or something that isn't the problem I'm having. So, I was trying to find help in forums relating to the IS2010.

I don't know what to do!

                  1.  Current Status.  It sounds like you are able to boot into Windows XP.  Perhaps you could clarify your current status.
                       a.  Are you able to successfully boot into Windows XP?  With or without blue screen?
                            (1)  Using "Normal" mode?
                            (2)  Using "Safe Mode"?
                       b.  What blue screen Stop Code are you "now" getting and when does it occur?
                            (1)  At what point in the startup process?
                            (2)  How do you get past this "fatal" error?
                       c.  What service pack level is your Windows XP at?

                  2.  Chkdsk.
                       a.  Which "chkdsk" did you run (from hard drive operating system or boot CD)?
                       b.  Which command line did you enter (e.g. "chkdsk /r")?
                       c.  Did you execute "chkdsk" against every logical disk drive letter (that's using NTFS file system)?

                  3.  BlueScreenView.  Download, unzip, and run BlueScreenView.  Are all the blue screens consistent or do they differ...  Look for anything interesting...

                  4.  Event Viewer.  Open up the Microsoft event viewer and look at the logs for errors and/or warnings that correlate with the times of your blue screens.  To access:  Start -> Run -> type "eventvwr.msc" without quotes and hit <Enter> key.

While you're in the "event viewer", open the "Application" log, sort on the "Source" column, and look at the "WinLogon" entries to see what errors if any "chkdsk" reported.

                  5.  Steps Taken.  Hold off on this a little while longer, but I doubt you've tried everything.  Look for things that must integrate deep within file system to operate...
                       a.  Have you uninstalled AntiVirus program?
                       b.  Have you uninstalled other AntiMalware/AntiSpyware software?
                       c.  Have you uninstalled third party firewalls?
                       d.  Have you uninstalled backup utilities?

Haha.. after 7 days I finally gave up and reformated. Even if it meant losing my school work. At the end my blue screen changed to something else and I couldn't get past it anymore.

                    Thanks for helping.
