The local electronics recycling center charges 30 cents/pound for anything that is not a CRT monitor or CRT televistion..

It would cost me about 15 bucks to recycle it... Frankly I'd rather put it in the dumpster at my apartment complex...

Actually, there's a recycling dumpster right next to the trash/garbage dumpster that accepts a variety of stuff including, "small" appliances.
I think some clarification might be helpful.  The above are two different options for disposal, right?  And, the second one would not cost anything?

Visit the website of your county.  They may have info on recycling.  For example, my county has this at http://www.lcounty.com/rlc/default.aspx.  Or, as Salmon Trout suggested, inquire at City Hall if you live in the jurisdiction of a municipality.

you can recycle anything with electric parts in it in the recycling centre free of charge , why dump it some where

Sure your man Harry48 lives in Belfast, so he does. EEVIAC lives in the USA. Does it not cross your mind, harry, that maybe the rules are different over there away in America? Where they have "centers"?

Or did you think that this was a six counties forum? That BC_programmer comes from Dungannon? That Patio is really Paddyo, a Nationalist from the Bogside? And I am a fishmonger from Larne? "Welcome to Larne The Wages Of Sin is Death"

At midnight, dump the amplifier on the electronics recycling center's doorstep. :P

Israel is a state. Every sovereign nation is a "state", whether the official title includes the word or not.

OK. WE HAVE BEEN OVER THIS.

Canada was never annexed by the US. we are not a smegging state,  thank you. (technically we're a dominion, but I'm not sure if that precludes also being a state, since state is obviously from the word "estate" which (IIRC) essentially means a land holding, so a state is really a government land holding) I have no problem with the United States, obviously. I can handle "american" because technically we are in North America, But saying I'm/we're in the United States is analogous to if I was to say that Wales, Scotland, and Ireland were part of England. I know for a fact that Scottish and Irish folk dislike being told that "they are all the same" as England.

Difference being, Wales, Scotland, England and Ireland are all part of Great Britain.

Additionally, the other countries you named appear to all be former British Holdings, which have nothing to do with states at all. They were never considered "states" to britain as far as I'm aware; the moniker was originally used evidently to imply that Canada and the U.S are somehow one and the same. They are not. They are two different countries, and two different peoples, and I'll be damned if I'll let anybody try to tell me otherwise.

In fact, in a curious twist, it is in fact the UK that are the United States closest Ally (and I am not simply referring to statements by the former president of that nature, but rather referring to import/export and trade agreements, as well as investments into each others economies. Of course Canada is also an Ally to both nations but to actually call us a "state" of the US can only be based on our proximity; which is, if nothing else, a foolish thing to say, considering, you know, scotland and ireland and wales are so close to England... aww heck, let's call them ireshire and scotshire! what the heck, they are pretty much shires of England, right?

That's better. Well, except the french part. Only ones who would agree with that are those living in the province that doesn't even want to be part of Canada.

The Maple Leaf flag is cool but so was the red ensign... even if it was different only in colour from other commonwealth countries.
