Windows 7 and Legacy Software

Is anybody aware of a website that lists which older software programs - designed to run in Windows XP - can still be used successfully in Windows 7 and whether or not they require the XP Compatability Mode ?

I would like to know if Adobe Premiere Pro 1 and Syntrillium's Cool Edit Pro 2 will function fully.

I don't think they can be used with Vista.

Microsoft says Win7 is designed to run as much XP software as possible. Because it is not 100% compatible, they have provided XP Mode, which is a free download from Microsoft if you own Win7 Professional or better.

It is best to contact Adobe and Syntrillium for updated information on their readiness for Windows 7.

Maybe someone else here can refer you to a reference web site as you mentioned.

Only Adobe Premiere "Elements" is listed.

Version 7 - Action Recommended = Get paid upgrade

Version 8 - Compatible

Cool Edit Pro is now Adobe Audition. When you have an old version, they usually want you to pay for an upgrade. For example, I have Nero 6 on XP. It is very full featured. It doesn't run on Vista. I have Nero Essentials in a later version for Vista, but it is very stripped down. Solution offered me - buy the upgrade!

All of Adobe CS4 works with Win7.
