I have no idea how to fix this :( help would be great!

I accidentally installed my new windows 7 program over my existing windows vista. I attempted to restore the windows.old folder that was created my following instructions: support.microsoft.com/kb/971260. now i am unable to log on and when i start windows i get the message" The User Profile Service service failed the logon User profile cannot be loaded. I troubleshooted this and it tells me to log on under different user but i am the only user on this computer. any suggestions???

Unless we know what selections you made on the install it's hard to determine what's happened...
