Mouse pointer travels

Please help   Mouse pointer travels whilst mouse is idle.The pointer travels to the top left of screen. A new mouse has not fixed the problem

Have you checked the legs of your table??....

Only joking, I also have had this problem lately and have also tried two mice, to no avail.

This has only occurred on my new system running XP
and both mice are fine on my other PC using ME, perhaps just some sort of application specific bug?

It may be due to the type of mousepad you use. Or the lack thereof.
