SAGEM F@st 2404 Router. Download and read the "support" documentation provided for your router by
http://www.sagem.com.
Suggest you select the correct "country" for support. I'm not sure whether that would be the country you live in or the country where you purchased the product. I could not find my country listed, so I selected "Great Britain" to get the following support page:
Sagem F@st 2400 series.
Your router appears to provide:
a. DSL Modem
b. Four "wired" LAN ports
c. "wireless" access for your LAN
This is an "animal" I've never seen before...
Are you currently using this router as your DSL modem connection?I have just bought a new sony vaio laptop with window 7 and I need to connect it with my desktop ( has window xp ), so I can transfer files to my laptop .

You have many "options" available for transferring files between the two machines. The simplest short term solution is to use a USB thumb drive (aka flash drive) for storage and then "
sneakernet" the data between computers. (Put on your "sneakers" and manually walk the thumb drive over to the other computer.)
The best long term solution is to use a home router to setup your local area network (LAN) properly with file/printer sharing so you just need to connect laptop (either wired or wireless) to your LAN and move the files. You probably will need "step-by-step" instructions for this. Using two different operating systems is an additional wrinkle but someone with Windows 7 experience should be able to get you past that.
I think you should setup your home network using the router (actually its four port switch component) to transfer the files. Like EEVIAC, I recommend you start with a "
wired" connection for the laptop as it's easier to setup and troubleshoot the file and print sharing components.
On the other hand, if the laptop currently uses wireless to access the internet through the router, I guess you should be able to make the necessary configuration changes to share files between the computers.
Are you familiar with a Command Prompt window and the "ping" command?3.
