hey hello guys and gals, want to try to help a friend to put W7 in for trials but I am a PC man not a laptopman. His is a great DELL XSP1300 or something. Tried to make a partition, that didnt work (contained small weird DELL partitions..lol), tried to start the laptop with the W7 disc in it, no reaction, so I wondered....might it be the start-sequence in the BIOS that has to be altered? And if yes, how do I get into that BIOS...lol..PC is no problem, but laptops and DELL's.... ;D ;D ;D

could be this belongs to the hardware-section, so my apologies for that...but an answer i really would like...

A laptop is just another computer. Except for the size it is no different from a desktop. Watch the screen when the system first boots and it will say something along the lines of: Press F2 to enter setup. At that point, press F2 (or whatever the key is). Then make sure the cd is at the top of the device boot order, save & exit. Boot to the Windows DVD, create the partition(s) you want to, and install.
