My view is that we are no where near a point of celebration. After reading the link it prompted me to send them the following;
"In my ever so humble opinion the protection of data in the digital world can be thought of in the same way as preventing terrorism.
The only limitations on acts of malfeasance by would be perpetrators is the limitation of their imagination and access to material resources. To propose or pretend that 100% success can or will ever be achievable is to ignore fundamentals of human behaviour, There are and always will be people lacking conscience and intent on evil.Efforts can only be made to "try" and minimize their impact. I am not suggesting we should not try nor ignore the issues but as in the case of the current airport body scanning it demonstrates not only an insignificant effort but may tend for concerned citizens to believe something actually relevant and effective is being done to protect them. When we start to be less reactive and more proactive we may enjoy greater "success"
