Network security
« on: May 20, 2004, 10:06:25 AM »
I have eight computers on my network.  Is it possible to allow only part of them to have access to certain word and excel files.  These files are on the computers that have the printers attached.

If your file servers have NTFS filesystem (WinNT/2K/XP) you can set specific permissions for file sharing. If you are using Win9x or FAT32 with XP/NT, you have fewer options.

UNIX/Linux and Netware's NetBIOS and network OS will give similar security capabilities as NTFS.
