No brains...  Well, that might be a problem.  Sigh, another "scarecrow"...

        Here's some background info:  http://www.multibooters.co.uk/index.html.

That link is for all Windows operating systems (including Windows 7).  The navigation links were on left hand side of web page.  For example:  http://www.multibooters.co.uk/articles/windows_seven.html.  That link explains how Microsoft handles multi-booting and why it works.  If you use the Microsoft method, the expectation is you would reinstall the operating systems in the correct order.  Oldest one first.  (Actually, I don't know if Microsoft supports multi-booting Windows 7 with Windows ME - you'd have to look that up.)

I believe they also mention alternative third party software which is probably a better alternative, especially if you don't want to reinstall the operating system.

It sounds like you already have Windows 7 and Windows ME installed on two separate hard drives and now you wish to selectively boot one or the other.  Some computers (brand names) permit you to use a designated <function-key> at startup to display a boot device selection menu.  If both hard drives are available to you from this method, this would not require any changes; thus would be simplest method.  Or perhaps, when needed, you could enter CMOS setup at system startup to specify hard drive boot order within system BIOS.

You may be able to pick relevant pieces from this link Install Windows 98/Me on Windows 7 computer (Win7 installed first).

Allow me to but in with thke super simple answer.
Buy another disk drive . Maybe a cheap refurbished thing. Gusta as long as it works. Look in the BIOS. There has to be some way yuou can change the boot order. Almost every desktop PC BIOS has some way to let you boot from the second drive. And the OS will think it is drive C: even though it is the second drive.
Put you old OS on the smaller drive, The Windows 7 on the Big one.
NOTE. Do not have the second drive in place awhile installing Windows 7. Connect the other drive later.

            Works for me.

You don't have to use the Microsoft method of dual-booting, but you should understand what it is so you can make an informed decision as to which method is best for you.

I thought that web site also talked about or provided references for alternate methods starting with subsection "A Smarter IPL" continuing to the end of the article on page A Guide to the Multiboot Process.

To date, I've never used the third party alternatives; so I can't advise you on them.
