need help with c:\windows\system32\drivers\ntfs.sys. error

I am not sure what I should do about getting this error message on my home computer... c:\windows\system32\drivers\ntfs.sys. comes up on the screen but will not allow the windows xp operating system from loading.  This started when looking for more memory and the removal of both the memory and the system cards from the memory board.  My boyfriend would like to know if this is fixable and if so, how? Thanks..
