    Lost standby facility
    « on: February 11, 2010, 12:42:00 PM »
I recently changed my laptop running vista to XP.
Following this I have lost the standby facility!!
    Any help would be appreciated.
By the way I did download the appropriate chipset driver following the wrong one being put in firstly by the shop. The driver they installed didnt let the fan kick in, and caused allsorts of shutting down problems.

Did you uninstall the "wrong" driver before installing the correct one?

To be honest with you, I'm surprised the wrong driver even installed. But since it did, you need to uninstall it. Then reboot, install the new one, reboot, and if necessary reinstall other drivers. Then look in Device Manager and see if there are any errors.

          Thanks for the advice Allan.
I found the the driver could present a conflict with my lappy, ie Acer! Bugger!!! Thanks again for the input. Lesson learned I guess!
