Funny how an old brain works sometimes; your post reminded me of a thread from last year. Well, I couldn't remember at first it was from last year, but went looking around in my files and sure enough, found it.

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=3110069

I'm going to have to do some further studying about that idea, but I also would like to emphasize that I have never seen that happen before on this unit with the SeaMonkey browser. And that morning I spent a number of hours on some research so I went and grabbed some data stored about the number of times I accessed YouTube that day and I'll show you with an attachment.

I'm obviously intending to push this one and eventually will go after Google. They already know me as a pain in the neck, so no point in disappointing the new employees there. Been a few years since my last back-and-forth with any of them. In fact, even the special group we used to have seems to have broken up.

But I'm going to study your thoughts before I go further with this. It could very well not be related to any sort of system input at the Google end.

Okay, but to go further with troubleshooting would require some information from your end as to what you have tried thus far?

I suppose I really should have started at my end with a question before I offered what I did, and that is whether any sort of Windows Update was done just before you noticed notepad was gone? Whether any security update or scan was done using a third party tool? Any sort of system change?

Actually, the Windows Update would likely only be of the security sort. I don't know if that other update program I paid for on one of my units is still running as I haven't been to that house for a number of months. This Win7 unit here at this work station only gets the security stuff updates.

One more thing, but pulling on old memory here, and my memory is slipping with age and the chemo, so might be unreliable. But I seem to remember that notepad was a favorite target of security related attacks, so that may be worthy of a thought --- maybe a BIG "may be".

But, even so, I wouldn't be too happy if a tool such as that just up and left the system. Of course, your unit may be the first case of true AI changing to be creative on its own and didn't like that software. If that proves to be the case you now have a one million dollar computer. Maybe worth more.

I would first suspect that Seamonkey could be missing implementations for some CSS attributes or other implementations that are being used. Not sure if the ad elements can be HTML/CSS elements on their own but if so it might be using something taht is newer or only works in Chrome.

If you install Explorer Patcher and Open Shell in the Windows 11 computer it will accomplish that.>>>

Correct me if I am wrong...by your above statement, are you saying just by installing those 2 apps, I will get the classic look or I have to open both of them and make some choices?  Obviously your aquainted with them, I am NOT.

I have no idea what you are talking about. You said you wanted Windows 11 to look like prior versions of Windows. If you install Explorer Patcher and Open Shell in the Windows 11 computer it will accomplish that.

Here's an easier download link for EP: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/explorerpatcher.html

I went to that explorer patcher link and did not see any button to download it. as for Open shell...let me explain my situation, so there would be no confusion on either side, hopefully. I an responding to you from my win 7 desktop...so technically, I do not want to install those 'apps' on win 7. The reason being I am having *censored* of a time getting adjusted to my win 11...ie...I cannot setup my thunderbird email on my laptop and so far using search from my win 11, it does not take me to Shell. I have no idea  on how to get to Shell to open it. Is it possible to copy those 2 links u gave me and install them on a usb drive to use it on my win 11 laptop? I would think those apps would be more suited there then on win 7. Once i get to either one of those links on my laptop, what should i look for to start getting my classic look? Are those apps 'self explanatory"?

They are both apps. Install Explorer Patcher first, then Open Shell Menu (though if you do it in the other order that's fine too).

Gladly to....but tell me...which comes first, opening the Shell or whatever that patch your recommending? Your response is vague. You should not take for granted that the recepient knows exactly what your referring to...be more explicit...in steps to take. Thanks.
