Email problem/query.

I use AOL Mail email service.

Last Thursday I received several automated message acknowledgements for email that that I had not sent, and also some undelivered mail reports from, I presume, the AOL mail server.

Apparently the alleged messages were "no subject" and I think addressed to around 25 email addresses, all of which were in my Contacts list - the message itself consisted only of a list of these addresses - nothing more. No comeback in the couple of days since then.

I am wondering how such a thing could happen - some kind of hacking into my emails?  It seems rather pointless.

I ran scans - Avira AV, SuperAntispyware, Malwarebyte, Secunia etc - all clear.

you may find it was a spammer who sent the emails, DO NOT REPLY TO THEM,
Make sure you have enabled your junk file settings for you email program. I am not with AOL so can't help you there.
