I am considering purchasing a 64-bit computer system and using Win. 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Current system is 32-bit running Windows XP 32-bit.
The wireless router -- 32-bit driver -- I have works perfectly with my DSL provider. Other later models of hardware I have tried do not, for some reason. So I am reluctant to change out the router. I've checked but the router manufacturer does not offer a 64-bit driver for it and the unit is not in production. But it is solid, dependable and I have descent speed from it.
My question is this. If I keep my current 32-bit system running Windows XP 32-bit going and use it and its driver for the set up and securing of my wireless router, which is connected via a100Mbps Ethernet cable, and connect the 64-bit system running Win. 7 Ultimate 64-bit via one of the other available Ethernet ports on the same router, is it possible that this scenario would work, giving me DSL access for the 64-bit system? I appreciate any advice or alternate ideas regarding this.
