Messed up Macbook screen - please Help!!!
« on: July 29, 2010, 08:36:57 AM »
Hi, before you think my screen is busted and needs replacing, It's not completely busted,
it is very dark and I cannot change the brightness, I am using an externel monitor right now because it is impossible to use it at all without it.

I am thinking this may be a Backlight issue, Either way I'm not sure and I really don't know (what to do).

Specs of my Macbook:

OS:            Snow Leopard 10.6.4
Processor:       2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory:         2 GB  667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
Model Identifier:   MacBook4,1
Graphics Chipset Model:   Intel GMA X3100

I don't know if I can give any more info than that for help, I just got the spinning ball of death and Finder is going to crash any moment, so let me post now, will edit later.

Thanks for the help, I do not know what other info I can give, if somebody can help me that'd be great. :)

Switching to Mac wasn't easy lol. ;)

Sounds like your Display Inverter is damaged. Bring it back to the Apple Store.

Apple Care is a free repair and warranty service. If you take it back to the store, they should be able to repair it, but it'll cost you.

It might be worth getting a new laptop. You can use Time Machine to transfer everything to the new Mac.
