    Installing Linux to Flash Drive
    « on: July 22, 2010, 07:02:14 PM »
I'm trying to install Linux to a flash drive, but I keep getting the error message "no bootable partition in table". Or it asks me for a command line entry. ???

Have a look at UNetbootin: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

It will write an ISO to a flash drive or even download and install a distro of your choice automatically!

Thank you! I am now more confused than ever!!!!!!!!
When I downloaded that program, I got the prompt:
ubnkern initrid=/ubninit_ (blinking cursor). What am I supposed to type
      there?
Linux often has command line prompts to go further, and I have
no idea what to type in, making the program useless to me!

Why don't you just try installing Puppy Linux?  A reference: http://www.puppylinux.com/flash-puppy.htm
