Can anyone using PSPP (the open-source version of SPSS) on linux tell me how well it works?  I'm thinking of switching my emachines desktop to Linux but I need this program to run statistical tests for my psychological research.  Thanks for your help.

Why not either install Linux in a dual-boot configuration with Windows, or install a VM (virtual machine) software such as VMWare Player and install Linux in it as a VM?  I'm not familiar with PSPP so I can only suggest you do a Google search for info it.

I pretty much just switched to Linux anyways, it's simply better.  Unfortunately, I'm using Maverick Ubuntu and it keeps freezing up on me, maybe I need a lighter distro.  Do you think Fedora or gNewsense would work?

btw.. pspp worked fine, it's actually pretty awesome

I've been using it for many years and it works very well.  However it can't yet do some of the very advanced statistical analyses.  So check your requirements first.  The official released version 0.6 however is very old.  The 0.7 version although not official works much better and has a whole lot more features, so that's the one I would recommend if you choose to use it. ;)
