Changing CPU
« on: March 08, 2011, 03:23:57 PM »
Hey I have a OLD pc that I is running XP. CPU is a AMD 1900 w/ 2.5 gb of ram and a asus mother board w/ a add video card. Everything was working well yesterday but today I change out to the new 2800 mb cpu I order to give to the kids to play on. After changing out the cpu and resetting the coms. I'm getting on picture, everything is back the way it was before changing it out and still no video? Any ideals I've hit a wall.
Thanks

Not enough information. What motherboard, (model number, not just make) what old cpu (full details), what new cpu (full details)? What does "resetting the coms" mean?

What does "resetting the coms" mean?

I'm guessing "coms" is a typo for cmos?

2800 mb cpu
What does is a "2800 mb cpu"?  Do you mean and AMD Atlhon XP 2800+?  If so, did you confirm that your motherboard will support it before buying it?
