Compressing (?) old files

How do I prevent Windows disk defragmentation from compressing older files? I have seen Mac post a registry entry which you had to disable, but I can not remember where it was.

Will I run into more than one key that way? Could you specificy the path? I do not feel like reactivating Windows if I delete the wrong entry.

Defragging doesn't compress files.
File compression can be unticked in disk cleanup.
Ccleaner does the same and more than disk cleanup but is 1000 times faster.

WDF reports that it is compressing old files. What other application could have done this? The more I run WDF, the more compressed files I find on my computer.

I have removed the entry and the computer is still booting. I will see if this causes Windows to stop compressing files.

That's strange, my defrag only defrags?
Are you sure you don't mean disk cleanup?
Maybe it's an XP thing, I'll check it out.

Where/how did you find these compressed files?
It's all double dutch to me.

Well, it must have happened somehow. I never used to defrag and I had no compressed files. Now I defrag my game computer each time data is added or removed and I end up with well over 400MB of compressed files. Which I find and remove by using Windows Disk Cleaner. I only play games on that computer, the only tools I use are WDD and WDC.

I checked on this computer, and it does not find any compressed files. I do not use WDD that often here.
