Problem downloading from the internet

Hi

I am having problems download things from the internet everytime i try to download something it says my internet conntection is not working but i am already on the internet. It started when i installed a panada secruity software last year on my laptop and it corrupted my laptop it has also stopped me from downloading adobe software abd uodates for my laptop. The panda i think is inactive on my laptop but the icon is still there is there anyway this can be fixed?
