    32bit for 64bit.

    Hello i have windows 32bit and i have 3gb ram ddr2. i have been told that i can only have 4gb max.i have read if i put the 64bit disc in it will automatically uninstall
    the 32bit and install the 64.is this correct is it that simple.also i read that i must reformat my hard drive how do i do that.and lastly should i backup all my ,
    programmes.

    1) What OS?
    2) Is your hardware 64 bit compatible?
    3) You will have to back up all critical data. All programs will need to be reinstalled from scratch.
    4) Nothing will happen "automatically". You will need to boot to the OS disc, format, and install from scratch. You will then have to download and install the correct drivers.

      Thanks allan i think i;ll leave it . it sounds like i need a IT guy. its' way over my head.
