I'm not very familiar with DOS/command line
I've got an old thinkpad 380xd with dos 6.22 freshly put on it i.e. nothing but the OS. I want to partition the disc to have dual boot dos & W98.
I've been looking at the old Microsoft ms-dos 6.22 user’s guide & it lists files that I need to copy to make a boot/startup disc:
1. msbackup.exe
2. msbackup.ovl
3. msbackup.ini
4. msbackdb.ovl
5. msbackdr.ovl
6. msbackfb.ovl
7. msbackfr.ovl
8. msbconfig.ovl
9. default.set
10. msbackup.log
11. msbackup.rst
12. format.com
unfortunately some of them seem to be missing, even when i used C:\dir /s /p /w /on
So, three questions:
1. Why aren't they all there (something to do with it being a fresh install of dos)?
2. Does it matter?
3. The ComputerHope instructions on “How to create a boot disk” (
http://www.computerhope.com/boot.htm) seems to be describing a very different process..........I’m confused
Any help with these questions much appreciated.
TIA
