.NET SP-1 fails, and fails again.
« on: April 19, 2013, 08:38:34 AM »
This Dell E1705 laptop with otherwise updated XP-3 can not get the .NET sp-1 update right. Fails  every time. This has gone non for weeks now.
It has 2GB of RAM.
I use Avast anti-virus.

Have you tried dis-abling Avast for the process ? ?
Also i believe you can DLoad the full installer package and disconnect from the web if you don't feel safe doing the above method...

Plus it's unclear if you are talking about .NET...or SP1...if SP1 you are gonna have a heck of a time as MS has pulled it from the web...

Well, when he says .NET SP1, I am under the impression that He's probably talking about .NET SP1. I know, bit of a leap of logic :P

That said, I second your advice regarding the full installer. The Full Installer (rather than the bootstrapper) can be downloaded directly from here.

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Thank you both. I meat to say .NET 3.5 SP-1 from Microsoft.  I went to the site and it asked me if I want English. How come nobody understands  when I speak?
I am now truing to download and it seems to be very slow.
Not sure why.
I will be back in an hour. I hope.

Failed again. I give up.
Yes, I installed the full 3.5 .NET as advised by BC. Then Windows update says, after a reboot and another reboot, the update failed.   :'(

Later I will read this. Right now I am not a believer.

Rather than another hour on this, -
I would rather be forced ton watch an old TV rerun off Scrubs,
- or even Bones.  ::)
