    32 bit or 64 Bit
    « on: April 15, 2014, 08:16:26 PM »
Every where I see this question asked it is never answered correctly. Question is which CPUs are 32 bit and which are 64 bit. Please don't tell me
how to look and see whether my OS is 32 or 64 bit. Let's pretend I don't have an Os as yet. Now how do I tell what CPU I have. I went to intel.com and could not find any tech specs, just products like 2 in 1 laptop etc etc.
The CPU in question is in an HP Compaq Mini 110C-1100CA Netbook. The sticker near the keyboard says Intel Atom inside. System properties says intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz 1.60GHz. Hardware Device manager/processors Details tab says ACPI\GENUINEINTEL_-_X86_FAMILY_6_MODEL_28\_0. System info says Processor x86 Family 6 Model 28 Stepping 2 GenuineIntel ~1596 Mhz

    Which leads to:

Microsoft has a download that tests your current machine.

The download program may take some time. Just wait.
    Does that answer your question?

The Intel Atom N270 is a 32bit chip.  You can check it on Intel's website.

For most Intel CPUs, you can simply google the model number "Intel Atom N270" in your case and the first result will be a link to the CPU specs on Intel's site such as this here for your CPU http://ark.intel.com/products/36331/Intel-Atom-Processor-N270-512K-Cache-1_60-GHz-533-MHz-FSB - Whether the CPU is 32 or 64bit is displayed next to "Instruction Set" on that page.
