Two Connection

I started with 8 pin high speed connection then started a dial up connection both are active at the same time it seems when you open a browser window it uses the slow dialup connection any thoughts on this configuration?

What is the point of doing this?  If it can be configured to work, it is still a convoluted way to connect to the Internet  And, since dialup is very slow, why would you want to do this?
