    No Signal Detected
    « on: July 25, 2017, 10:00:24 AM »
    Hi everyone.

I do not have much knowledge about computers and its acronyms or lingos. So please pardon me but i hope i can find a solution to my problem.

My computer boots fine, however after certain hours of usage, my monitor will just black out with a sign popping out saying that there is "no signal detected" with my cpu still running and if im playing a show or what not, the sounds or music will still be playing. A black screen justs stares back at me and i will then restart my computer and all is fine again but this whole thing will start happening in less than 30mins. So its a restarting game for me

My computer is about a year old and some specs that im using for my computer that i feel might other knowledgeable users might ask me.

    850i corsair psu
    980ti asus strix
    z170 gaming m5 motherboard
    Benq xl2411 monitor

Any form of advice will be helpful.

That might be normal for your hardware. Hit the space bar or move the mouse and the monitor should starts up again is about 10 seconds or maybe longer.
"No Signal Detected" is from your monitor.
The monitor will show this when the computer stops sending output from the video card. When not in use, the computer will turn off the video.
Have you recently changed any power and screen saver options?
    This may help.

Set you screen saver options so that it does not turn off the signal going to the monitor.

I have set my screensaver to never turn off. Moved the mouse and tapped the spacebar. It just remains like this till i restart my computer.

Next time that happens, turn on the monitor, wit, then back on.
Also. if the you can still turn to n Caps Lock k light on and off, the  computer is still running.

        Hi Geek-9pm

I tried whatever you have mentioned. My monitor goes from normal green light to yellow light for indicating the monitor is off. So any form of usage is made redundant thereafter.
Has it to do with my gpu as it is preset only for the fan to turn on itself at a higher temperature(cant remember the temp)? Something which i read for my graphic card today only.

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

          Hi Allan,

I did not install any new hardware or software recently. Been too caught up at work that i do not even play my games. This issue has been going on for about 3 plus weeks where the initial problem comes on like once in 3 days but its happening everyday now after about 4 or 5 hours of light usage. Movies youtube etc

Onboard or vid card ? ?

If a card remove all power to the PC and remove/re-seat the card...

          What happens ?

Agreed - if this just started out of the blue the problem is almost certainly either with the connection, the cable or the display adapter (with the adapter being the most likely of the three).

Alright. I will try to get a new set of cables and the display adapter this coming weekend and probably re-seat my card on another slot and see if it helps.
