FREEZING!!!

My Specs:
AMD 64 3000
1 gig ram
X800 256mb
MSI K8T800 Mobo
On board sound

My comp i all for gaming...now whenever i am about 10 mins into any game it will freeze and I will have to force quit the program.  The noise is still going but the picture is totally stuck.  Happened in Quake4, city of Villains, Doom 3.

I got newest directx (9.0c)
Got the newest catalyst drivers...
I dont know what the problem could be

i downloaded newest drivers for my sound card and scanned entire comp or viruses and spyware and still doesnt work....maybe i need to reinstall directx or something?
