my dell pc has no sound

i have an old dell pc/win 98 and my sound cards don't work.when i insert a cd it tells
me i don't have drivers,but i do.if you ask me it's not read the cards right.

When did this start? Have you made any changes to your system recently?

Look in Control Panel/System/Device Manager and see if any sound card is listed, or if there are yellow exclamation marks or none listed. Post back the results of your quest.

What happened is indeed a good question.  ;)

Do you have virus and Spyware protection? How old is the computer?
