Copying Excel sheet makes it Read only?
« on: July 26, 2006, 08:34:17 AM »
This issue just started where a user cannot open an excel sheet emailed to him.  The sheet is a copy out of an existing workbook.  If I send the workbook, it opens fine.  The copy gets the read only tag when created.. Don't understand that.

Thanks for the reply.  i didn't see anything right away on there, but I did find more of an explanation by tinkering.  The Read only that I saw was created only when I attempted to open the file from the preview pane in Outlook.  If I opened the message first, it was not read only.  With that out of the way, i'm back to square one on why this particular user is not able to open this one particular excel file.  I'll update this as I learn more.

THanks.

Exactly what procedure is being used to mail the sheet?  Are you starting from Excel's File menu and selecting Sent To?  Then what?
