Windows restarts when I open MS-DOS

Hi all.

Im using Windows-XP. So When I Open MS-DOS prompt, automatically my system gets restarted.
Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue.

What happened prior to this or has it always been this way?

Do you have a real, shiny XP disc? Let me guess, XP Pro?

I would suggest you don't open DOS.

That's not very good advice, so I'll have a look around, see what I can find.

Your computer restarts when you open your command propmt? chriswright96 is right, do you have a GENUINE copy of Windows? If you downloaded it (illegal) or have a copy... command.com probably got tampered with. Does this help at all???
