Computer Randomly Restarts
« on: November 14, 2006, 02:24:39 PM »
Hey, My brother recently inserted some RAM and a new VIDEO CARD into my computer for me. It is a Radeon X1600 Pro 512mb AGP  one. Problem listed below:
System:

AMD ATHLON 64 Processor
2800+
1.80 GHZ, 1.00 GB(used to be 512 but he added another stick) of RAM
Microsoft Windows XP HOME EDITION

Problem: RANDOMLY my computer restarts ever since the hardware has been installed with drivers. My cpu mostly restarts when I load up a game, yet it also does randomly at times.

I believe it has to do with the hardware. Looking for some advice,
thanks.

collins1393....... What's the wattage output of the PSU ?.......... It's possible that the new vid card is putting ithe PSU's output close to the line and with slight power fluctuations is causing the issue .
Have you checked to be sure it's not overtemperature thats causing it ?

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.

collins1393...... Does the machine have a brand name and model number ?
Usually there will be a tag on the PSU which will show the wattage.

Double check at crucial.com if it is the correct RAM as well...
