Enable it.  Then you can probably right click on the file select properties and decrypt it.

click start then run and type services.msc scroll down to the to the Encrypted File Systerm and restart or enable th service

You may need to install it from the Windows XP Pro CD-ROM.

thats another problem i can't boot in safe mood and when i try u repair windows xp pro it cannot find my SATA hard drives on which windows is stored...beacause it can't find the the hard drives i can't repair windows

i apprecitae the adivce guys keep it comin and we can get this fixed

I donot know much about SATA, but are your hard drives detected in the BIOS? And are they configured properly?

If you wish to boot from your CD-ROM, you did remember to place the CD-ROM to the first Boot device position,  yes?

Type "efs" into your help menu.  You should get some advice on recovery agents.  Such a long time since I dealt with it  that I can't remember the procedure.

so to re-fresh this post>a whole folder full of my pictures has become encrypted and some jpeg files in another folder.  I did not encrypt them and when i try to decrypt it sya that my machine is disabled for file encryption.......so what happens if you create a new user and transfer the files to it...await outcome?

i still need help......theya are still encrypted, can't back them up and decrypt can find or enable EFS and i cann't repair windows  ???

even though they arent deleted you can try a recover software?...there are many out there one would hopefully work?

scanned and clean..i scan everyday

recovery software.....examples
