Windows XP System Restore
« on: December 18, 2006, 03:29:38 PM »
Can anyone help me with Windows XP System Restore?  I deleted some files by mistake.  I tried to use System Restore.  Every one of the restore points over the last month generates the message:  " Unable to restore computer to this system restore point.  Please choose another restore point and try again"

Thanks for your help!

If System Restore will not restore your computer, the only things you can do is restore a backup that you made prior to the problem occurring or reinstall Windows or perhaps edit the Windows Registry.

What problem prompted you to attempt a system restoration?

What files did you delete? :-?Are they still in the recycle bin?

The recycle bin is designed to give mistakes a second chance.

Sort of like fool me twice shame on me.

Did you delete them and then empty the recycle bin?

Have you tried booting in safemode and doing restore?

Do you have a real Windows CD or a restore CD or what?

I was having a conflict with Windows Explorer 7.0 and AT&T/Yahoo DSL Version of Explorer and or some of the browser accessories.  I deleted ALL AT&T/Yahoo software via Windows add/remove.  Unfortunately,  I neglected to save my yahoo archive, which had contact information I need.  I wanted to use system restore to go back and begin the process again after saving the archive.

Thanks for your help!
